Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding the piano in her attic and being captivated by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music not to get an income or as a pastime, but as an opportunity to improve. In the end, she started writing her own music. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as influences as well as a love for Bjork's style. In response to her mother's suggestion that people ought not to aim at achieving fame through their songwriting skills, she instead recognize the significance of their lives as well as their contribution to society. As a young girl, she began to play the piano. At age nine, she, started writing songs. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family until she was fourteen. Aurora's success was never her goal. Her only passion is writing music. For her, music is the most effective method to experience anything.
